ECV Sutro Tunnel Restoration Project, 9 am – noon, Saturday, October 9

Friends, Countrymen, Clampers…

On Saturday, the 9th of October, from 9:00 am to noonish, there will be an ECV Sutro Tunnel restoration work day event at, cleverly enough, the Sutro Tunnel, located near beautiful Dayton, Nevada.

As a drinking historical society this opportunity should be well attended by brothers from Julia C Bulette Chapter 1864. You will, should you attend, have the opportunity to help restore a wondrous historical mining-related site for posterity (that’s Widders and orphans). BEER WILL BE PROVIDED!

Many of you, will grumble that we already do enough work on old buildings. You’ll likely think, Saturday morning? That’s the only day of the week the Widder is frisky enough to let me catch her! Alas, this may be true, but think of the delights of cleaning pigeon and rat droppings out of an old dilapidated mule shed! Or moving a pile of old bricks from one spot to another! Or pulling square nails originally driven into old beams by ancient tunnel builders in the 1860’s and 1870’s. Yes, you could literally be the very next person to handle a “square head” last touched by someone that touched our beloved Julia (gloves recommended)! Oh joys of humbuggery!

And, BEER WILL BE AVAILABLE for your medicinal purposes.

Please, take a second to remember our historical purpose and join us for this restorative event! The Widder will likely admire you all the more, as you regale her with tails of wonders seen and done at the Sutro Tunnel restoration event. Or, she’ll at least be pleased that you let her sleep in for once on a Saturday morning!
